About the Promoter
A first-time promoter in Gujarat, with land and the capital to invest, but no prior experience of running an educational institution. The ambition was clear: to establish a new, self-financed institute offering management and computing programmes, and to build it to last rather than simply open its doors.
Objective
To take the institution from an idea to a fully operational, admission-ready institute: secure AICTE approval and affiliation to Gujarat Technological University (GTU), develop the campus, put an academic team in place, and admit the first batch within the target admission cycle across MBA, BBA and BCA programmes.
Challenges
- Everything had to be built from zero. There was no institution, no infrastructure and no academic setup, and even the campus site had to be selected against institutional, regulatory and development criteria.
- Infrastructure, regulatory approvals and affiliation could not proceed one after another. Each depended on the others, and all of them had to converge on a single, fixed admission-cycle deadline.
- The promoter had no in-house institutional, regulatory or academic team to run a project of this scale.
- Statutory approval was granted late in the first admission cycle, sharply compressing the window available to recruit the first batch.
- As a brand new institution, it had no reputation, ranking or alumni to draw on while competing for students.
Solutions
-
Site selection and institutional framework
UniMarg evaluated the available land options against institutional, regulatory and development criteria, then built the institutional framework and academic plan the rest of the project would be delivered against.
-
AICTE approval and GTU affiliation
We mapped the full statutory pathway and managed AICTE approval and affiliation to Gujarat Technological University end to end, sequencing filings so they stayed aligned with the admission-cycle target rather than slipping past it.
-
Infrastructure coordination
Acting as the promoter's project office, UniMarg coordinated the architect, developers and statutory requirements so that campus development advanced in step with the regulatory filings, not behind them.
-
Faculty recruitment and academic readiness
We built the academic framework and recruited the faculty needed to make the institution operational and ready to teach its first batch.
-
Brand and first-batch admissions
UniMarg positioned and launched the institution as a new brand and ran the first admissions cycle, working within a compressed window after approval came through late in the cycle.
Result
The institution moved from vision and land to a developed campus, AICTE approval, GTU affiliation, formal inauguration and a live first academic batch, from a standing start with no prior brand.
- MBA filled to 80% of approved seats in the very first year.
- The engagement continued for roughly 20 months in total, into subsequent academic and admissions planning.
- BCA is positioned for stronger intake in the next cycle.
