About the Engagements
Three separate, self-financed institutes in Gujarat, one in Ahmedabad, one in Gandhidham and one in Kalol near Gandhinagar, each offering management and computer-application programmes across MBA, BBA and BCA. All three are kept anonymous here at the promoters' preference. Each had its campus and buildings coming together, but could not admit a single student until it held AICTE approval, and none had an in-house team familiar with AICTE's norms, documentation or portal.
Objective
To secure AICTE approval for each institute in time for that year's admissions, so each could enrol its first batch without losing a full cycle, and to keep the respective affiliating university and state approvals moving in step so that approval and affiliation lined up rather than holding each other up.
Challenges
- AICTE assesses an application against exact norms for land, built-up area and infrastructure. Each campus had gaps to close and evidence to assemble in precisely the form AICTE expects.
- Laboratories, workshops and supporting infrastructure had to be demonstrably ready for the expert committee visit, not merely planned on paper.
- The application, annexures and portal submission left little room for error. After scrutiny, each institute drew deficiency queries that had to be resolved quickly and correctly.
- The runway was short. Each approval had to be secured within the window before that year's admission cycle closed.
- As first-time applicants, none of the promoters had worked the AICTE portal or the approval process before.
Solutions
-
Readiness assessment against AICTE norms
UniMarg audited each campus against AICTE's land, built-up, infrastructure and faculty requirements, then set out a clear gap-closure plan so each institute knew exactly what had to be in place, and by when, to qualify.
-
Application, annexures and portal filing
We compiled and formatted the complete application in the structure AICTE requires and managed the portal submission end to end for each institute, so nothing was mis-stated or missing at the point of scrutiny.
-
Faculty and infrastructure gap plan
Acting as each promoter's project office, we sequenced faculty recruitment and laboratory and infrastructure readiness so that every campus met the norms in time for scrutiny and the expert visit.
-
Scrutiny and deficiency resolution
We tracked each application through scrutiny and answered the deficiency queries promptly and in the exact form AICTE expected, so a query did not turn into a lost cycle.
-
Affiliating university and state coordination
In parallel, we ran the liaison with the respective affiliating university and the state authorities, so AICTE approval and affiliation came together rather than one waiting on the other.
-
Expert committee visit
We prepared each campus and its documentation for the AICTE expert committee visit, so the inspection confirmed what the file already showed.
Result
All three institutes secured AICTE approval within the targeted window, with their affiliating university and state approvals lined up alongside, and each admitted its first batch in the same academic session.
- Every application cleared scrutiny and its deficiency queries without losing the admission cycle.
- The promoters moved from first-time applicants with no regulatory team to approved, admission-ready institutes across MBA, BBA and BCA.
This work sits within UniMarg's Recognition, Accreditation and Regulatory Approvals practice. Approval norms and timelines change, so each engagement is mapped to the position that applies at the time of filing.
